The identity of The Hardwoodist, and the Hardwoodist Research Institute, along with all of the writing, ideas, and experiments on this site, originated from the brain of a single software engineer and basketball fan in North Carolina. The questions (and attempts at answers) are real — and in some cases have been brewing for decades — but the institution itself is not. (At least, not yet.)

(In case you were wondering, AI is involved in the build, but it does not write the prose on, or dictate the direction of, this site.)
